Backyard Jam 2024
Backyard is once again joining up with British Cycling to host the 2024 Backyard Jam and 2024 National BMX Freestyle Series. This year there are 4 physical rounds at skateparks around the country and 2 video rounds. The introduction of video contests adds a dynamic element to the series and opens up opportunities for riders to showcase their skills.
The first event will take place at Junction 4 skatepark on 8th to 9th June 2024. Tickets are on sale now and you can register over on the British Cycling website. You can also check out and download the series guide which provides all the information on judging, regulations, series points etc.
This year we will also be incorporating a secret location event for the 3rd round. The location, in the West Midlands, will be revealed nearer the time but we are very excited for this one. Round 6 hosted at Adrenaline Alley skatepark in Corby will also incorporate the National BMX Freestyle championships and will take place 23rd to 24th November.
With the introduction of the video series and secret locations we’re making significant strides in the evolution of the series, emphasizing inclusivity, participation, and the elevation of riding standards in the UK. The decision to introduce video contests not only aligns with the goal of making the series more accessible but also leverages the momentum surrounding BMX leading up to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The collaboration with world-class venues and hosts underscores the importance of community support in fostering the growth of BMX freestyle nationwide. By providing a platform where Olympic athletes and newcomers alike can share the same ramps, the series cultivates a supportive and inspiring environment for riders at all levels.
